The client gave complete design freedom on this project, specifying only the need for a square patio occupying 80% of the rear half of the garden and a "water feature." Because of the sunniness of the location and the amount of space remaining in the garden, we built a wading pool with a built-in bench. The filtration system is a high-grade pond recirculating unit that, when combined with chlorine, makes for a swimmable pool. Propane-fired heating units could be added to create a hot pool. Lighting was installed in the walls below the waterline. The design of the stone bridge ensures that as a person moves around the garden they will interact with the water right next to and below them.
